  • Samuel is a designer driven by passion and inspired by arts and motion graphics. He uses his design skills as a tool for problem-solving, a means of identifying and making links between concepts and reality, and a means of enhancing interactions between users and the products they use. Samuel believes that passion, willingness to learn and practice are three major factors that contribute to his success as a graphic designer.

Samuel continues studies at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Communication Design, while already holding a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics.

  • How did you get into the field of graphic design?

I have always had an interest in design and creativity from childhood. I enjoyed watching cartoons and playing video games and wondered how it was made. I loved the fictional storyline, the characters, and the soundtracks but more than that I was intrigued by how they came up with the ideas for the characters, colours, costumes, illustrations, and animated effects." I always told myself I had superpowers like a green lantern or Superman, hahaha but I do have one now as a graphic designer solving creative problems. This was how my passion for design was born. One of my very best cartoons then was "Justice League" and the video game was "Contra."

Tell us about a comic book you read recently.

I enjoy reading comics and one of my most recent favourites is "Case Closed." It features a main character called Detective Conan, who is a high school prodigy detective turned elementary school child that solves crimes with his Junior Detective club (his elementary school classmates). Detective Conan always has one eye on his goal, which is to unravel the mystery behind the Black Organization — the crime syndicate that forced him to ingest the experimental poison that turned him into a child.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy watching Japanese anime and playing video games. The Japanese anime must not be dubbed as I enjoy the sound of the Japanese language. It has a sense of action which I find very interesting. I also love to cook some African meals my favourite is the NIGERIAN JOLLOF RICE. I wish everyone could try this dish.

Sam’s Long-term Goal

I have long aspired to own a restaurant that serves African food.
