Tahltan Nation Development Corporation

Website

Roodenburg Design Consultants partnered with Tahltan Nation Development Corporation to design a new website that better reflects the organization’s growth, professionalism, and role as the business arm of the Tahltan Nation. More than a visual update, the project focused on creating a clearer and more effective digital platform, one that could better serve TNDC’s diverse audiences while aligning the online experience with the strength of the updated TNDC brand.

The Challenge

The previous website no longer reflected the scale or maturity of the organization. Research and analytics showed that important content was difficult to find, the site experience was not mobile-friendly, navigation lacked clarity, and key pages such as Careers and Employment were drawing significant traffic without fully meeting user needs. The project also had to address a wide range of audiences, including customers, partners, employees, surrounding communities, and government, while better organizing TNDC’s services, joint ventures, business partnerships, news, and contacts.

The Approach

Our approach combined brand alignment, user research, content strategy, and information architecture. Building on earlier brand work and stakeholder engagement, RDC reviewed the existing site, completed comparative website audits, analyzed analytics and questionnaires, and developed a strategic framework for how the new website should look, function, and communicate. The goal was to create a site that was image-oriented, information-rich, clear, and easy to maintain, while presenting TNDC as a confident and sophisticated leader in its sector.

The strategy placed particular emphasis on usability and accessibility. Content was reorganized around what visitors were actually seeking, rather than around legacy structures, and the sitemap was expanded to better reflect TNDC’s growth. Clearer navigation pathways, responsive design, concise writing, improved search, and a more logical relationship between pages helped transform the website into a more intuitive experience for both external users and internal administrators.

Strategic Direction

The new website was designed to do several things at once. It needed to communicate TNDC’s history, capabilities, and partnerships with greater clarity. It needed to support recruitment by giving more prominence to careers, training, and employee-related information. It needed to function as a current source of public information through news, annual reports, and updates. And it needed to express TNDC’s Indigenous ownership, values, and professionalism in a way that felt welcoming, natural, unified, and strong.

Visually, the strategy called for a more expressive and image-led experience, balanced by a simplified interface, light and friendly typography, stronger iconography, and a consistent application of the refreshed TNDC brand. The result was intended to be both more engaging and more useful: a website that leads with confidence, while remaining clear, human, and easy to navigate.

The Outcome

The resulting website provides TNDC with a more contemporary and capable digital presence. It better communicates the organization’s services, structure, opportunities, and partnerships, while supporting future growth through a clearer content system and expanded site architecture. More importantly, it positions TNDC online in a way that is aligned with the organization’s ambition: professional, credible, grounded in Tahltan values, and ready to serve multiple audiences with clarity and confidence.
